Flottilj is a small multifunctional desk lamp designed for IKEA of Sweden. Despite its compact size, it is a highly performing reading lamp that can also be used for other purposes, such as highlighting favorite items in a room.

For us, the most interesting design challenge was to create a highly functional reading lamp that follows the principles of circular design. From a materials perspective, we have optimized usage and incorporated recycled materials where possible. The packaging has also been optimized to the smallest possible format, making it a super flat-pack product. For the longevity of the lamp, all parts are easy to dismantle, maintain, and repair. The light source mechanism is designed to be very easy to replace, which is not always the case with many small desk lamps today.
